All Beginners classes have no prerequisites.
Intermediate classes are designed for people who have already attended Beginners classes.
Silver classes suit those who have attended Bronze classes before.
Gold classes are for those who have done Silver and Gold Bar for those who have done Gold.

What does the membership price mean?

To do any class you must be a member. Not only does membership cover you for insurance, but you also get great discounts on all of our exciting activities through out the year!!

What does the class price mean?
You pay a class for the entire semester, excluding any Medal classes (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gold Bar) which run until 18th September, 2009. Our classes are very affordable as you don't need to travel, its on campus and all our teachers are trained and experienced professional.

You can also try the class before you decide to join. Its that simple and our class are a lot of fun!

Location
All classes are held in the Rehearsal Room in the Basement of the Campus Centre, Building 10 (beneath the Post Office), Monash University, Clayton campus. If you have trouble finding this room, please ask at the Campus Centre Information Desk.

Ballet
Classical ballet is characterized by a standard vocabulary of steps, poses, and graceful movements including pointed feet, rising, jumping, stretching and spinning. It is strengthening, disciplined and stylised.

Commercial Funk
A choreographed dance form similar to that seen on commercial video clips. It features a mix of sharp and fluid movements and animated expression.


Contemporary
A modern and expressive form of dance. It has few boundaries, and can be interpreted in countless different ways. It is great for body balance, control, strength and flexibility.

Go-Go
The popular 60's style dancing that involves high energy retro moves to some of your favourite party classics!
 

HipHop
Hiphop is a dance style usually danced to hiphop music and includes various moves such as breaking, popping, locking and krumping, and even house dance.

Jazz

The latest dance moves to latest music combined with technique, strength, flexibility & balance. A jazz routine incorporates stylized dance movements and combinations, formation changes, group work, leaps and turns.

Latin

A subset of the International Style of Ballroom Dancing, Latin includes the following five dances: Cha cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble and Jive. Compared to the typical ballroom dance, Latin dances are generally faster-paced, more sensual, and have more rhythmic expression.

LeBop

LeBop, also known as modern jive, is a partner dance that can be danced to the music of today. It borrows moves from several other styles, making it a unique, but fun, blend of modern dance! 

Modern Ballroom
A subset of the International Style of Ballroom Dancing, Modern Ballroom, aka Standard, includes the following five dances: Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango and Viennese Waltz.

New Vogue
An Australian form of sequence dancing originating in the 1930's. New Vogue includes dances such as the Evening Three Step and the Carousel.

Salsa: Salsa is the most popular Latin dance originating from the Carribean and Latin America. Salsa is a partner dance, although there are recognized solo steps. Salsa is an extremely contagious and addictive dance that is growing in popularity throughout Australia.

Street Latin:
The term Street Latin is used to describe a style of multiple dances (Salsa, Merengue and Mambo) traditionally danced in clubs, bars and in the streets of Latin America.


Swing
A lively energetic dance that developed with the rise of jazz music in the first half of the 20th Century. Swing dancing jazzy and retro styled, including dances such as the Lindy Hop and Charleston.

Tap
Tap dancing is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats.
